To get around Mallorca you need a means of transport, a few maps, some money or credit cards, your identity card or passport, your health insurance and little more.
Historians locate the first traces of human life in Mallorca two thousand years before Christ.
As a proof of that, in some areas of the island, there are navetas and talaiots with a good conservation status, which are remains of an important Megalithic culture. You can find them in the Talaiotic settlements of Capocorb and Ses Païsses in the municipalities of Llucmajor/Cala Pi and Artà, respectively.
The diversity of the Egyptian, Carthaginian, Roman, Muslim, Jewish and Catalan cultures have contributed to the creation of a heterogeneous culture that can be easily appreciated through the rural and urban architecture, on the one hand, and the creation of a festive and cultural heritage in terms of religious and pagan celebrations, on the other hand.
Mallorca is part of the Balearic Islands, one of the 17 Spanish autonomous regions. It has its own parliament, president and a High Court of Justice.
In winter, temperatures are mild (the daily temperatures range from 10° to 15° C, while the night temperatures range from 5° to 10° C). In summer (July and August), temperatures are usually around 27°C, with a maximum of 30° - 32° C. They are perfect to swim in the sea.
