Our cuisine is a legacy of Roman cultures, Jewish, Muslim, Catalan and has historically been linked to two factors: a raw material of dry and very tasty as traditional as slow processing.
The main Majorcan dishes are rooted forever in popular culture and its ingredients have been, since ancient times, linked to seasonal products. However, in the last 50 years, our ancestral cuisine, a product of survival and agricultural economies converging point of different dominant cultural osmosis has large kitchen with European-imported to meet the food preferences of hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The globalization of cultures has contributed to higher food culture and has fostered the emergence of hundreds of restaurants specializing in all kinds of cuisine, from simple pizzeria, grill meats, fish restaurant and local products, to Exotic Thai Restaurant, Greek, Chinese, or Japanese. There is so much variety of restaurants that can be said that Dining lives in Mallorca, one of the most interesting history.
There are many reasons why this has happened.
The first was the arrival on the island of many new chefs from all over the world, bringing new ideas, trends, technology, tastes and textures, without a clear improvement in regional and traditional cuisine.
Another reason has been the academic training of successive generations of chefs trained at cooking schools, seven in Mallorca, summing up what might be called the new Balearic cuisine. It is not broken or abandonment of classical cuisine, with strong traditional roots, as both have their place in idyllic harmony and with an unmistakable personality and determination. Only about a renewal process that is bringing wealth and splendor to a recipe that was crying native a nod to the avant well understood.
A logical consequence of the dynamism that live cooking in the world, which also occurred in varying degrees in the past and will be repeated in the future.
The combination of tradition and modernity, with the best Mediterranean pantry, set the tone of an important evolutionary moment in the kitchen and the restoration of Mallorca.
