Government
Mallorca is part of the Balearic Islands, one of the 17 Spanish autonomous regions. It has its own parliament, president and a High Court of Justice.
The islands have a joint government, the Government of the Balearic Islands (Govern de les Illes Balears), which is democratically elected every four years. Moreover, each island has its own Governing Council (Island Councils) and all towns and villages have an independent Town Council.
