Train

Moving around Mallorca by train is an alternative for those who think safety and comfort come first. The train in Mallorca is becoming more and more popular and the Government has put its faith in this means of transport. It is an alternative travel format that allows you to see Mallorca from a different perspective, since you discover landscapes that can only be seen from the SFM trains or from the Train of Sóller.
In Mallorca there are two railway companies. One is state owned and the other one is private.
The Train of Sóller is private and is a jewel that attracts many tourists. It is a lovely period train that not only draws the attention of the visitors, but also the attention of the locals and residents, among whom it is very popular. It is a romantic wooden period train, very well preserved, the origins of which go back to the 20th century. This train departs from Palma Railway Station, with beautiful gardens and a modernist building, and from Sóller Railway Station, the building of which was built in 1606. You can also take this train from Son Sardina Station and Bunyola Station. It is one of the most beautiful journeys, not only because of the landscape, but also because this period train is admired for its excellent conservation status and because it has connected these two towns since 1912.
Tram of Sóller
In Sóller you can also take the tram, which was inaugurated in October 1913. From Plaça de sa Constitució to Sa Posada de l’Artesà, you can travel around the harbour in the period carriages of this tram, which keep the charm of old times.
Train Palma, Inca, Manacor
From the underground station of Plaça d’Espanya you can take the state owned train that connects Palma with Manacor (on the northeast of the island) and Sa Pobla (north). Both lines stop at Inca train station. There are plans to extend the rail network up to Alcúdia and Cala Ratjada.
The public company Mallorcan Railway Services (SFM) covers the line Palma, Inca, Manacor. With a high frequency, these trains connect the capital of the island with the northeast of Mallorca.
