How to move around
Long-distance and city buses
The regular bus lines that connect Palma with the other localities are operated by private companies through public allocations awarded by the Transport of the Balearic Islands (
TIB).
The buses that provide such services stand out from the others because of their colours: red and yellow. They all operate from the open bus station close to Plaça d’Espanya, where there is an intermodal station (bus, train and underground).
The bus services available allow you to move around comfortably both in Palma as well as between the different Mallorcan villages and
tourist areas.
The 34 city bus lines are operated by a state owned company: the
Municipal Transport Company of Palma. This company has a fleet of 150 vehicles, most of which are next-generation buses. They are propelled by gas and have air-conditioning.
An express line connects Plaça d’Espanya with Son Sant Joan Airport. Line 2 carries out a complete tour through the historic city centre.
Tourist Bus
The
Palma City Sightseeing bus company offers a tourist bus service. It has four open-top buses that drive through the city and make 15 stops. The whole tour is 90 minute long. They have translations in 8 different languages.
