The Fundación Yannick and Ben Jakober in Alcúdia
The Foundation is located near the town of Alcudia, on the northeast coast of Mallorca. His main collection, entitled Nins, comprises over 130 portraits of children of royalty and European aristocracy of the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries.
The main building designed by Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy in 1978, where he is now located Karlweis Wing, houses the largest collection in the world of works by Domenico Gnoli (Rome 1933 - New York 1970), and a room dedicated to Rebecca Horn. Works are also subject Fabrizio Plessi, Alan Rath, Miralda, Meret Oppenheim, Takis and Jakob / Vu.
Sokrates space is one of the most original of the island. It invites us to dialogue, under the Einstein equation that indicates the relationship between space and time with extraordinary pieces from different historical periods and civilizations. Here, a fossil skeleton of a woolly rhinoceros Pleistocene ritual masks from Nepal or create a dialogue with contemporary works by artists such as Miquel Barceló, Gerhard Merz and Ben Jakober / Yannick Vu, set out under the glare emanating from the Glass Curtain Swarovski.
The purpose of this foundation is primarily the conservation and restoration of Spanish Historical Heritage Assets (BIC & Real catalogs). Incidentally, promotes the development of fine arts in general and of painting and sculpture in particular, by the exhibition of works, dissemination and knowledge of the matter, and artistic exchange activities aimed at facilitating access to information those who express an interest. Its main territorial scope is the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.
The Foundation has a small budget and receives no public funds.
