Equestrian Shows

Mallorca offers leisure alternatives for all kind of travellers and interests. Horses and, consequently, equestrian sports are deeply rooted in the Mallorcan culture and tradition.
In fact, harness racing was one of the favourite spectacles for Mallorcan society during the first half of the 20th century. It is very easy to get excited with the horse races that take place at the Mallorcan hippodromes of Son Pardo and Manacor.
Given the extraordinary geographic location of the island and its combination of sea and mountain, a pleasant horse ride can turn the landscapes into real discoveries.
In terms of love for horses, it is important to mention the Mallorcan Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (AECABMA), which was founded in 1992 and has over 50 members. Mallorcan horses are present it many markets, festivals and activities that take place in Mallorca. They also successfully take part in many equestrian shows. The Association organises courses and seminars for all members and Mallorcan horse supporters.
On the other hand, Mallorca has a great number of good riding clubs. In Palma, you can find the following equestrian centres: CEEM, Son Reus, Es Bon Sol and Son Molina. These centres have school horses and offer horse jumping and taming lessons, amongst others. They also have instructors.
However, if you just want to go on a horseback riding excursion, there are many equestrian centres and ranches that rent out horses by the hour and organise trips. Their prices are somewhere between 10 and 15 Euros an hour.
