Santa Ponsa
Santa Ponça is a holiday resort located on the southwest coast of Mallorca, within the municipality of Calvià. It is an area suitable for all age groups, with a wide diversity of shops, bars, restaurants and cafés, apart from the nearby tourist attractions, such as the water parks and everything that the island of Mallorca offers to its visitors.
Santa Ponça is par excellence one of the main historical spots in Mallorca, since King James I disembarked on its coast on the 10th of September of 1229 in order to begin the conquest of the island after over three centuries of Muslim domination. A big stone cross, located near the yacht club, commemorates and remembers the Disembark.
Every year, at the beginning of September, this area celebrates the King James I’s festival, which includes an extensive activity program for all age groups and preferences. Such program combines history, folk culture, art, leisure activities and music... all to commemorate the Christian conquest of the island of Mallorca.
In Santa Ponça, the Mediterranean flavour can be noticed in all its quiet streets, which are open to the sea. This beautiful place guarantees relax, fun, nature, etc., so that you can make the most of your holidays.
In the centre of Santa Ponça, the largest beach consists of a vast sandy area with a length of 550 m and a width of 100 m. Here, you can find some palm trees surrounding the beach and a pine tree forest.
The Caló d’en Pellicer is a small cove with fine sand and crystalline waters. Two thirds of this cove are covered with pines and tamarinds.
Cala Blanca, located at the foot of the residential area of Costa de la Calma, is a small cove that alternates stones with sand and is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest. Nearby you can also find the coves of Ses Rotes Velles and Ses Penyes Rotges, as well as the beach of El Toro.
The Santa Ponça Golf Club has 2 courses located very close to the sea surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. It is one of the most active golf courses in Mallorca, being the venue of the main national and international tournaments. Very close to the club you can also find the Poniente Golf Club and Bendinat Royal Golf Club, both of them with 18 holes.
Santa Ponça’s yacht club offers a wide variety of services, being one of the best clubs on the island. Very close to this spot you can also find the marina of Port Adriano, Portals Vells, Palmanova’s yacht club and Porto Portals, one of the first-class harbours in the Mediterranean Sea.
In this area you can enjoy diving in the marine reserves of the Malgrats Islands and El Toro, which offer many options for all diving enthusiasts.
