Pollença

Port de Pollença is one of the main tourist enclaves in Mallorca and the second population centre of the municipality. In its stunning bay there is La Fortalesa (The Fortress), sheltered by Punta de l’Avançada. It was built in 1624. Today, La Fortalesa is of private property. Here, you can also find the mythical paradise of Formentor, the beautiful coves that mark both sides of the coast and a game hunting reserve.
The beach of Pollença-Llenairae is the most popular beach in this bay, since it offers all the services and activities that the tourists that choose Pollença as their holiday destination may need. With an average width of 40 metres and a length of 3900 metres, the beach of Pollença-Llenaire is also a privileged place to practice all kind of water sports and enjoy nature.
On the northern part of the Bay of Pollença there is Formentor, one of the most beautiful spots in Mallorca.It is the meeting point of intellectuals, politicians and artists.
Pollença played an important role within the cultural world on the island. At the beginning of the 20th century, Pollença became a popular place among painters and poets, such as Miquel Costa i Llobera, Ramón Picó i Campamar, Santiago Russinyol, Joaquín Mir, Anglada Camarasa... Apart from its prestige as a very beautiful tourist destination, today, this place is artistically known thanks to the International Classic Music Festival and the cultural activities that take place at Hotel Formentor.
