Orient
Orient is a hamlet within the municipality of Bunyola. It is located in the middle of the valley that bears the same name. It is a village taken from a fairy tale, surrounded by mountains. Orient is located in one of the most fertile areas in Mallorca, between Alfàbia and Puig d’Alaró.
In the past, it used to be a municipality based on agriculture and cattle farming, with huge fincas. Today, however, agriculture has been pushed into the background and there are few people living in the valley. Maybe that is the reason why calm and tranquillity prevail in this beautiful village.
On the highest point of the village stands the parish church of Sant Jordi (18th century), which was built on the site of an oratory from the 13th century.
Its gastronomy, although not very diverse, is very famous thanks to its roasted suckling pig and kid dishes that you can eat at the Orient Restaurant.
On one side of the road there is also the restaurant of the Dalt Muntanya hotel, and in the highest part of the village, there is the Mandala restaurant, specialised in French cuisine.
In terms of accommodation, apart from the before mentioned Dalt Muntanya hotel, you can also find the Son Palou hotel, located in the church square.
In the outskirts of the village (towards Alaró), there is the prestigious Hermitage, a country hotel with a lot of charm. This hotel has a very interesting oil mill, a tower, accommodation annexes and an herbalist’s, all surrounded by an imposing garden.
