Thermal waters

Located in Campos, the Hotel Spa San Juan de la Font Santa is the only hot spring in the Balearic Islands. It contains sodium chloride waters. It is a place especially designed for health and wellbeing purposes. It is located on the road that goes from Campos to Sa Colònia de Sant Jordi.
The thermal waters of Font Santa were also used in the past, even in the Roman Age. In this area there used to be a pool, in which people bathed to find a remedy to their illnesses. This pond was transformed into a well in order to separate the water and its medicinal mineral properties from the infiltrations that could leak from the upper surface waters.
Next to the oratory there was also a room with a thermal well. It was known as the “scabious room” and the “scabious well”, since the patients that suffered from that disease went there due to its properties to heal that illness, as well as other skin diseases of those times, such as the leprosy.
In this room there were also two bathtubs. One of them had “13th century” engraved on one side, while the other one had the year of its construction (1507).
Today, the thermal waters of this spa are classified as medicinal mineral waters, that is, underground natural waters that are difficult to occur artificially and that due to their peculiar physicochemical properties and the salts that they contain, can be used with therapeutic purposes. They have been declared for public use.
The use of the medicinal mineral waters in treatments and programs, the existence of a medical service and the appropriate infrastructure to carry out the prescribed treatments, amongst others, are some of the essential requirements that San Juan de la Font Santa has to fulfil in order to be recognized as the only spa or thermal establishment in the Balearic Islands.
Our waters’ composition, rich in minerals, is also one of the things that make us different form the other spas, wellness centres and the wrongly called city spas.
The Spa San Juan de la Font Santa includes amazing new facilities, such as the Hydrotherapy Pool, the Vaporarium, the Jacuzzi room, etc.
