Shopping Mallorca

In 2011, the “Shopping Mallorca” program has synthesized three city routes in Palma that might be of your interest. These routes are as follows:
The exclusivity and distinction Route.
This itinerary consists of a visit to the west part of the city of Palma, where you can admire Sa Llotja, the Customs of the Sea or the Bellver Castle. Here you can also visit some of the courtyards and the facades of several stately homes. This itinerary also includes the most distinguished streets, where you can find the most exclusive and elitist shops. In the city centre you can find boutiques such as Armani, Luis Vuitton, Faconable, Tous, Loewe, Cartier, Escada, Prada, Carolina Herrera, Valentino and Hugo Boss, amongst others.
The city’s heartbeat.
This route covers the main arteries of the city centre, which house the most dynamic and active side of the city. This route mainly runs through the areas of Les Rambles, Carrer Unión, Passeig del Born and the bed of the old Riera.
An emblematic walk along the streets of the city.
This route of contrasts invites you to discover the busy roads of the city as well as the remotest and emptiest ones.
In case you also want to buy something special and typical of Mallorca, it won’t really be very difficult to find an interesting variety of handmade products.
During your trips and walks across the island you will have the opportunity to visit factories and workshops where there are a broader range of products at a better price.
In terms of Mallorcan craftworks, we recommend that you buy jewels, hand blown glass products, cultured pearls, pottery, fabrics and leather articles. And also, even though the manufacturing activity has decreased, you will also find good examples of the footwear industry.
Mallorcan jewellery:
Known for a very long time, it includes golden and silver handmade fine pieces with designs inspired by the Mediterranean style.
Hand blown glass:
You should really visit the hand blown glass factories of Can Gordiola (Algaida), Menestralia (Campanet) and Lafiore (Esporles, Valldemossa road). Each one has its own singularities and characteristics.
Cultured pearls:
The cultured pearls cultivated in Mallorca are world-wide famous. Majórica and Orquídea are the main exporting brands. They cultivate the pearls in their workshops and factories located in Manacor.
Embroidery:
The Mallorcan stitch embroideries are highly valued handmade pieces. They are famous for the delicacy of the table linen and antimacassars, very common in all Mallorcan homes.
Footwear industry:
The main footwear industry of Mallorca is located in Inca, Selva and Llucmajor. Some Mallorcan companies are world-wide famous.
Leather articles:
Mallorca manufactures a great number of leather items: handbags, wallets, jackets, coats, hats, belts… Good value for money.
Fabrics:
The Mallorcan textile mills manufacture the beautiful roba de llenües, as well as the colourful flat and cotton fabrics that decorate the houses in Mallorca. The most famous textile mills are in Santa Maria and Pollença.
Ceramics:
We are really good at ceramics. We make all kind of kitchen or gardens utensils, as well as decoration articles. Our clay pots are famous and come in different sizes and shapes. The siurell is also famous. It is a white statue whistle made of terracotta and dotted with basic colours (red, green). If you are really into clay, you should go to the municipality of Marratxí, which is bounded by Palma, since it houses many crafts workshops.
